The idea of love is thought of in many different ways by many different people. We even get to a point of thinking of many types of love. Which is all well and interesting, but at this point I want to share how to appeal to the other person that you say you love.
This doesn’t have to be just for romance. It works for friends and family as well.
A while ago I read a book.🤓 Yes, I did! Anyways, I learnt a lot from this book, The 5 Love Languages. I’m actually a sucker for these kinds of things. You know as they say, “I love love!”💕 Although there is some psychology applied to this as well, I loved it even more.
Humans have 1 of 5 primary love languages, before you start overthinking, just know that none of them are spoken verbally. Stay with me for a sec, these are languages, you don’t speak them, so which means you show and apply them to life. I think that’s great, especially since most people like to say, “I don’t like theory, I prefer practical.” Well, here’s you love practical.
I’ll name the language and explain in relation to myself
Quality time 🕟
This one is my number one and everybody should know it. It means that my love tank is 100% filled when someone spends quality time with me. That means no outside noise and distractions, let’s actually talk and get to know one another. Let’s do fun things together and live in the moment to make memories.
Physical touch 🤝
This one is not all about sex. That needs to get out of the way. For me, my day is completely made when someone gives me the biggest bear hug. I’m happy even when my hand is held, or just a simply touch on the shoulder to say, “Everything is going to be okay.” That’s what it means.
Words of affirmation 📝
This is ranked 3rd in my languages. But still important, because there are just those moments when we need to hear some special words from special people to build us up when feeling low. I think for me, at random when someone just sends that long sweet text to remind me of things I’ve forgotten about myself or says something as sweet as, “You are loved.” I’m all good again. But I like the long texts (I need bae to get the hint on this one 😉) anyone is welcome.
Receiving gifts 🎁
This one makes people feel like they need to spend tonnes of money. Really, that’s not the case. You know when they say, “It’s the thought that counts.” People who have this as their number one are the ones that invented the saying, and they meant it. A hand made gift or card, really touches the heart here. Or any sentimentally valued gift, at the lowest cost is perfect for me. Not to say that you should never plan to buy anything. Also I love surprises on non-special occasion days, makes me feel like you are thinking of me any time not just on valentine’s day.
Acts of service 🛀
I’m not entirely sure about this one 🤔. Maybe that is why it is ranked last for me. I assume that it is all about offering to do something of service for me, but without me having to beg you for it. It’s more an act out of kindness. I know for sure I would highly appreciate a back and foot massage, but I can survive without it.
These are the 5 Love Languages, explained from my perspective. I did a quiz that told me the ordered preferences. You should try it to, you can easily Google it. It has helped me so much in discovering more about myself and maybe it can help you to. It’s also helpful if you take the quiz with your significant other or even your close friends, if you know each other’s love lingo, the less fights and higher ability to appeal to one another on how to love each other.
Let’s be #Royalty in love. 💕👑
